The International Slurry Surfacing Association (ISSA) promotes cooperation between members specializing in
asphalt slurry seal and microsurfacing for roads, parking lots, and other pavements. Members represent the
slurry and microsurfacing industry in 36 countries.
ARRA members are an integral part of the continuing effort for system preservation and rehabilitation to provide
a safe, cost-efficient, and comprehensive network of roads and highways. The Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming
Association continues to serve as an excellent network for the information exchange and technology transfer among
professionals in the highway industry.
The Department of Transportation was established by an act of Congress on October 15, 1966, the Department’s
first official day of operation was April 1, 1967. The mission of the Department is to: Serve the United States
by ensuring a fast, safe, efficient, accessible and convenient transportation system that meets our vital national
interests and enhances the quality of life of the American people, today and into the future.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the
state's roads, bridges and tunnels. And, through the Commonwealth Transportation Board, it also provides
funding for airports, seaports, rail and public transportation. Virginia has the third largest state-maintained
highway system in the country, just behind North Carolina and Texas.
The site provides one-stop shopping for transportation services from real-time traffic and flight information
to transit schedules and on-line vehicle registration through the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). MDOT is
the umbrella organization for the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA),
the State Highway Administration (SHA), the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) and the Maryland Port
Administration (MPA) as well as the Maryland Transportation Authority (MdTA).
The North Carolina Department of Transportation's (NCDOT) mission is to provide and support a safe and integrated
transportation system that enhances the state. NCDOT fulfills this mission through two major thrusts. First, NCDOT
directs, plans, constructs, maintains and operates the second largest state-maintained transportation system in
the nation which includes aviation, ferry, public transportation, rail and highway systems. Second, NCDOT licenses
and regulates the citizens and motor vehicles that utilize these transportation systems.
The Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs, maintains and improves the state's roads and bridges;
provides planning and financial support for other modes of transportation such as mass transit and airports;
provides airport and air safety planning; and provides air travel to state departments. The Department also
provides administrative support to the State Tollway Authority and the Georgia Rail Passenger Authority.
Keeping Tennessee moving is the primary goal of the Department of Transportation. The Tennessee Department of
Transportation is also responsible for other forms of transportation - aviation, public transit, waterways and
railroads. The department's involvement ranges from airport improvements to funding transit buses to planning
for river ports. Aviation safety, transit management, railroad rehabilitation and mobility for our elderly and
handicapped are recognized by the department as important elements in Tennessee's overall transportation system
as we approach the next century.
The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance is dedicated to serving the specific needs of businesses
involved in Virginia’s transportation construction and aggregate industries. We serve contractors, aggregate
producers, materials suppliers, consulting engineers and other professional service firms. We are the industry's
forum for open communication with the Virginia Department of Transportation and other agencies.
Carolina Asphalt Pavement Association (CAPA) was founded in 1949. CAPA represents 95 percent of North Carolina's
asphalt industry - approximately 30 asphalt producers and 30 associate members, who supply materials to the
asphalt industry. The association represents members' interests on issues involving the North Carolina Department
of Transportation (NCDOT), the environment and legislation.
Maryland Asphalt Association is an association dedicated to the leadership, development, and advancement of
quality Hot Mix Asphalt pavement construction today and tomorrow. The Association is committed to ensuring that
Hot Mix Asphalt paving is the most cost-effective, high quality paving available to the motoring public and other
present and potential customers.

The Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association is the International Organization representing the asphalt emulsion
industry. AEMA's mission is to expand the use and applications of asphalt emulsions. Asphalt emulsions are the most
environmentally sound, energy efficient and cost effective products used in pavement maintenance and construction.
The Mission of the State of Delaware's Department of Transportation is to provide a safe, efficient, and
environmentally sensitive transportation network that offers a variety of convenient, and cost-effective choices
for the movement of people and goods.
Founded in 1916, the Portland Cement Association represents cement companies in the United States and Canada. It
conducts market development, engineering, research, education, and public affairs programs.
