Commercial Driver

SUMMARY

Commercial drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of cargo as directed by supervisor. This position requires an on-the-job presence and often requires out-of-town travel lasting from 5-15 days.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include those outlined below, however other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Adheres to all company and government safety procedures and guidelines, including but not limited to safe commercial vehicle operation
  • Complies with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Performs vehicle inspections per DOT guidelines
  • Operates / drives commercial vehicles as directed
  • Assists with the training of employees in the safe and efficient operation of commercial vehicles.
  • Keeps vehicles clean and performs minor repairs to vehicles as needed
  • Communicates with managers and other employees
  • Immediately notifies management of potential problems, which may result in production delays, poor quality or unsafe working conditions 


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's license (as applicable) with the following endorsements (as applicable): Hazardous Material (H), and Tanker (N). 
  • License must be in good standing with acceptable demerit point balance.
  • Valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (as applicable).
